The Israeli military has expanded the so-called Yellow Zone in the Shuja’iyya neighbourhood, east of Gaza City, by moving the yellow-painted concrete blocks marking its boundary further west.

According to local sources, the expansion took place amid heavy gunfire and artillery shelling, forcing residents to flee the area amid fears of further Israeli military activity. The Yellow Zone is an area under full Israeli military control. It now reportedly covers more than 70 per cent of the Gaza Strip, which has a total area of approximately 365 square kilometres.
