All 22 Indian crew members aboard the Panama-flagged crude oil tanker MT GEM No. 2 have been rescued and are safe, following an incident off the Ras Al Khaimah coast, according to the Consulate General of India in Dubai. The vessel was struck by a drone or an unknown projectile near Sharjah Anchorage on 9 October, triggering a fire that was later extinguished.

The UAE National Guard’s Coast Guard Division rescued all 22 crew members, provided first aid and handed them over to the relevant authorities. All those rescued were reported to be in stable health. The Indian Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways earlier confirmed the crew’s safety, while the Indian Consulate said it remains in contact with UAE officials and is extending all assistance.
