The US government has suspended Microsoft, Adobe, and six major IT and outsourcing companies from the Permanent Labor Certification Program (PERM), halting new and pending employment-based green card applications from these firms

PERM is the first crucial step for employers sponsoring foreign workers such as H-1B visa holders for permanent U.S. residency (green cards). Vice President JD Vance and Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling announced the action, citing ongoing federal investigations, alleged visa fraud, and a policy push to compel tech giants to hire more American workers rather than relying on foreign labor.
