Swiss President Guy Parmelin begins state visit to India

Swiss Confederation President Guy Parmelin arrived in New Delhi on Monday for a three-day state visit to India, with the visit focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership between India and Switzerland. The Swiss President described the visit as a stepping stone towards further growth, deepening and strengthening of the close, broad and long-standing partnership between the two countries.

President Parmelin also highlighted the first anniversary of the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, or TEPA, coming into force, calling it the right moment to celebrate and shape a joint future.  Swiss President Guy Parmelin also visited Rajghat to pay homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. The leader laid wreath at the memorial, honoring Gandhi’s enduring ideals of peace and non-violence.
