The Myanma Agricultural Development Bank (MADB) under the Ministry of Finance and Revenue issued an announcement on 5 October regarding the expansion of agricultural loans for farmers growing double- crops.

According to the announcement, in line with the policies of the State, the Myanma Agricultural Development Bank is providing agricultural loans for the 2026–2027 financial year for the monsoon, winter and pre-monsoon crop seasons, with the loan rates increased by an average of twofold compared with those of the previous year.

With the aim of increasing cropping intensity in the agricultural sector and boosting national production, additional loans will be provided at the increased rates to farmers who grow a second crop on the same farmland, starting from the disbursement of winter crop loans in 2026.

The double-cropping agricultural loans will mainly cover 10 major crops, namely paddy, maize, groundnut, sesame, sunflower, black gram, green gram, pigeon pea, long-staple cotton and sugarcane. The loans will be disbursed starting from the second week of October 2026, when the winter crop agricultural loans for 2026 are scheduled to commence. Therefore, farmers planning to grow double crops during the 2026 winter season are invited to contact the respective district and township branches of the Myanma Agricultural Development Bank for necessary arrangements.
