Cruise ship houses athletes at the Asian Games

A cruise ship is serving as a floating hotel for athletes during the Asian Games in Japan, helping address a shortage of accommodation. The Costa Serena, which can accommodate nearly 4,000 people, is housing Asian Games participants while also providing facilities for athletes.

New exercise equipment was brought aboard to create an additional gym for competitors. Games organizers say the floating accommodation model could serve as a template for future multi-sport competitions facing similar housing challenges. After the Games, the Costa Serena will return to its regular schedule, sailing across the seas and eventually arriving in Buenos Aires in time for Christmas.
