Academic Excellence : Honouring the outstanding students

A total of 4,511 students received cash rewards for outstanding performance in the 2026 matriculation examinations and the industrial, agricultural and livestock matriculation examinations.

The Ministry of Education held its awarding ceremony for the achievers at the Department of Higher Education on Friday. Union Minister for Education Dr. Chaw Chaw Sein attended the ceremony and encouraged the outstanding students.

The Union Minister highlighted plans to expand the Arts Excellence Awards and Science Excellence Awards for students from Arts and Science universities. Students who qualified for the Arts, Science and Commerce Excellence Awards will receive full scholarships throughout their studies and will be required to contribute to national development after graduation.

The Union Minister, Deputy Ministers and officials then presented honorary awards to six-distinction winners. The Ministry awarded 150,000 kyats each for one distinction, while those who passed without distinctions received 100,000 kyats per student.

Among the offspring of ministry staff, 42 students achieved six distinctions, 130 five, 194 four, 228 three, 326 two and 571 one distinction, while 2,939 passed without distinctions. In the industrial, agricultural and livestock matriculation examinations, two students achieved six distinctions, two four, two three and 10 two distinctions.
