Banking Sector: CBM Governor meets with Korean delegation

Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) Dr. Khin Naing Oo, received Chargé d’ Affaires of the Republic of Korea to Myanmar, Mr. Bae Byeongsoo and his delegation at the Central Bank of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.

During the meeting, the Chargé d’ Affaires expressed the interest of Korean companies in investing in the country, noting that such investments would bring mutual benefits through bilateral cooperation.

The CBM Governor discussed plans to facilitate direct payments using the currencies of regional countries, including the Republic of Korea, to streamline trade. They also openly discussed Myanmar-Korea banking matters, foreign currency issues and the status of Korean banks operating branches and subsidiaries in Myanmar.
