S.Korea sends investigators to Strait of Hormuz

South Korea's defense ministry said it has dispatched an investigation team to the Middle East to assess the situation surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. This comes as local media report that Seoul is preparing to send troops following calls from Washington.

The ministry revealed the news on Tuesday. The media reports say the South Korean government is considering providing support for the United States, such as dispatching patrol aircraft to the strait, upon its request.  The ministry explains that the dispatch of the investigation team was not decided on the premise of military deployment.
