Artistic Skills: Armed Forces Traditional Arts Competition

The 19th Armed Forces Traditional Arts Competition, featuring singing, dancing, writing, instrumental music, comedy, drama and magic, opened at the Sin Phyu Shin Hall in Nay Pyi Taw Transit Camp on Wednesday.

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He said the competition aims to preserve Myanmar’s traditional arts and culture, improve the artistic skills of military personnel, and encourage younger generations to carry on the country’s cultural heritage.

He also highlighted the role of arts and music in public relations and morale activities, especially in informing, educating and entertaining the public. The competition includes traditional and modern songs, dance, Myanmar orchestra, traditional Yein dance, drama, modern bands, magic and song composing contests. The competitions will be held from August 26 to September 1 in Nay Pyi Taw.
