


Union Minister for Women's Affairs Dr. Daw Thet Thet Zin received a delegation led by Mr. Peter John Cross, Officer-in-Charge/Ad Interim Country Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Myanmar, at the Ministry of Women's Affairs on August 26.
During the meeting, the Union Minister discussed the ongoing efforts regarding the development and empowerment of women and young women, the implementation of the National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (NSPAW), and initiatives for women's development and the prevention of violence.
She also mentioned that the ministry serves as the focal point for ASEAN processes, including the rotating chairmanship of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Women, the ASEAN Committee on Women, the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (Women's Representative), and the ASEAN Women, Peace, and Security sector.
In response, Mr. Peter John Cross congratulated the establishment of the Ministry of Women's Affairs. He stated that as their work plan includes livelihood support activities for women and gender-based violence prevention and protection services, UNOPS will sign an agreement to cooperate with the Ministry of Women's Affairs.
