Viet Nam phone exports surpass $42 billion

Viet Nam’s exports of mobile phones and components reached 42.16 billion US dollars by August 15, up more than 18 percent from a year earlier. 

Growth is increasingly coming from Asian markets. In the first seven months, exports to the Republic of Korea rose 69 percent to nearly 4 billion US dollars, while shipments to Japan climbed 59 percent to 1.65 billion US dollars. China remained the biggest market, followed by the United States.

Foreign-invested companies still account for more than 99 percent of the sector’s export value, highlighting the dominant role of multinational manufacturers in Vietnam’s phone industry.
