Reading Promotion Festival : YGN Region CM opened the ceremony by cutting ribbon

A ceremony for the School Libraries Development and Reading Promotion Festival, organized under the auspices of the Yangon Region Government and jointly conducted by the Yangon Region Information and Public Relations Department and the Basic Education Department, was held Tuesday morning at No. (1) Basic Education High School in North Okkalapa Township, Mayangon District, Yangon Region.

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu attended the ceremony and formally opened it by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Following this, students from No. (1) Basic Education High School in North Okkalapa Township performed the song “Library, the Treasury of Knowledge,” after which Yangon Region Chief Minister delivered the opening remarks.

Next, writer Punya Khin ပုညခင် gave a literary talk on the topic “The Benefits of Reading.” Afterward, Yangon Region Chief Minister presented a commemorative gift to writer Punya Khin in recognition of her literary talk and awarded honoraria to the entertainment groups.

Next, donors for the ceremony made cash donations, which were received by the Yangon Region ministers, who in return presented certificates of honor to the donors. Afterward, Yangon Region Chief Minister and officials toured and encouraged the exhibition booths and competitions held at the event. They presented gifts to the participants and awarded prize money to the students who took part in the competitions, it is reported.
