Thai PM stresses stricter gun control after school shooting

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul vowed to introduce strict new firearms control legislation after a shooting rampage on the outskirts of Bangkok Friday. It was learned that the new law will only allow government officials on duty to carry weapons in public spaces.

The incident reinforces the government's stance against extending current firearms possession permits. Anutin previously introduced a short-term ban on new gun licenses and restricted imports during his tenure as interior minister.
