South Korea records extreme heat as reservoir dries up

Cracks and exposed branches have appeared on the dried bed of the Baekan Reservoir in South Gyeongsang Province as South Korea experienced record-breaking heat over the weekend. Temperatures reached around 40 degrees Celsius, with residents reporting severe heat conditions.

Residents said the prolonged heat has affected daily life, with some relying on air conditioning to sleep and avoid going outdoors. Some also reported discomfort from sun exposure and difficulty breathing in the extreme temperatures.
