Train Derailment : RBE train derails on Mandalay–Lashio railway line

The RBE train traveling from Pyin Oo Lwin to Goteik on the Mandalay–Lashio railway line derailed on Saturday morning.

The incident occurred at around 8:17 a.m. between Pyin Oo Lwin and Pwe Kauk stations when heavy rain caused soil and sand to cover the railway track. The front carriage went off the track. The train was carrying 61 passengers, and no injuries were reported among passengers or railway staff.

Passengers were transported back to Pyin Oo Lwin Station by another RBE train and arrived at around 11:11 a.m. Railway officials also refunded their ticket fares. Myanma Railways staff and track workers arrived at the site and are working to remove the derailed carriage and repair the railway line to resume services as soon as possible.
