Historic Kataragama Esala Perahera concludes with vibrant celebrations

The 2026 Kataragama Esala Perahera concluded with its final grand procession on Wednesday. It is a grand historic festival in Sri Lanka featuring vibrant street processions, majestic elephants, and traditional dancers. Held annually in July, it honors the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha and invokes blessings for rain. In this year, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake joined thousands of devotees for the final night of the sacred multi-faith festival.
