The 9th meeting of the Myanmar National Cultural Central Committee was held in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday. Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye attended the meeting and made a speech.

The Vice President emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Myanmar’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage, including ethnic traditions, languages, customs, arts, and historical sites. She highlighted that Myanmar’s cultural heritage, such as the ancient Pyu cities and Bagan, has received UNESCO recognition, while the Myanmar Thingyan Water Festival was recently inscribed as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The Vice President also noted ongoing efforts to seek UNESCO recognition for Myanmar’s Thanaka culture, tea culture, and Htamane tradition. She urged government departments and citizens to work together to protect national culture, prevent the loss of traditional values, and ensure that foreign cultural influences do not overshadow Myanmar’s own heritage. The meeting also reviewed progress on cultural preservation projects and future plans for safeguarding Myanmar’s cultural identity.
