Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Bo Bo Kyaw on June 11, inspected ongoing solar-powered irrigation projects in Meiktila District of Mandalay Region, aimed at expanding water supply to more farmland.
They reviewed the Daikoungkone (Point-2) Solar Pumping Project covering 1,600 acres and the Khinban (Plain Extension) Solar Pumping Project covering 700 acres.
The projects are designed to increase irrigation water availability and boost agricultural production. The Deputy Minister urged timely completion of the projects and encouraged improved crop yields through better use of seeds, soil, water, and farming techniques.
He also inspected reconstruction work on the Samon siphon canal, which will help provide irrigation water to more than 42,000 acres of farmland once completed. He urged farmers to expand cultivation in areas with sufficient water and use irrigation resources efficiently. The irrigation projects will allow farmers to grow two or three crops a year, increase yields and income, and improve local livelihoods.
