Coordination Meeting: Monsoon season tree-planting activities discussed

A coordination meeting for carrying out monsoon season tree-planting activities was held Tuesday morning at the meeting hall of the Rakhine State Government Office. The meeting was attended by Rakhine State Chief Minister U Naing Oo, members of the state government, and departmental officials.

First, the State Chief Minister said that monsoon tree planting is being carried out with the objectives of promoting a green and pleasant environment, ensuring the long-term sustainability of forest resources, making urban areas greener, cleaner, and more attractive, creating recreational spaces for the health and well-being of the public, and conserving forest ecosystems. He also noted that planting and maintaining forests helps maintain balance in water resources, soil, and climate conditions, while also supporting the agriculture, livestock, industrial, and service sectors by providing raw materials, inputs, and environmental services.

Next, the Director of the State Forest Department presented the current status of preparations for monsoon tree-planting activities, while the Director of the State Development Affairs Department explained the arrangements being made for planting seasonal flowering and ornamental plants during the rainy season.

Following the presentations, members of the state government and responsible officials took part in additional discussions and clarifications. The State Chief Minister then responded to the discussions and delivered concluding remarks, it’s reported.
