







The Yangon City Development Committee is implementing upgrades to local markets as part of its 100-day development plan.
Through its Markets and Commodity Centers Department, efforts are underway at Thaketa Township’s No. 7 Market and NyaungYwa Market in Hlaingthaya (East).
Authorities are arranging designated spaces for vendors using daily permits, while also carrying out renovations to improve market facilities. These include upgrading market buildings and installing new roofing structures.
Hlaing Win, Chairman, Nyaung Village -Tract Administrator said " A new market building is under construction with the support of Market Department, and contribution by the vendors. The construction started in April, and estimate to complete during 100-day period by mid June."
Officials say the initiative aims to enhance market conditions and provide better services for both vendors and the public.
Vendor, Thaketa Township’s No. 7 Market, Thida Oo said " Now that we have proper spaces and better shelter, it is more convenient for us to sell, especially during bad weather."
Deputy Director, Nyunt Han, Botahtaung District Markets and Commodity Centers Department said " We are working to systematically arrange vendors and upgrade market facilities under the 100-day plan. These improvements aim to create a cleaner, safer, and more convenient environment for both sellers and customers."
The initiative is expected to improve daily trading conditions and contribute to a more organized and accessible marketplace for the public.
