Parliamentary Affairs: Meeting with Hluttaw Representatives in Yangon

Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi met with representatives from the Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyotha Hluttaw and Region Hluttaw at the Yangon Region Hluttaw on Saturday.

During the meeting, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker highlighted that following the formation of a democratically elected government, the legislative, executive, and judiciary pillars must function independently to strengthen democratic practices.

He stressed the role of the legislature in ensuring peace and rule of law and called for closer cooperation between the government, Hluttaw, political parties and the public for national development. He urged Hluttaw representatives to act as a bridge between the people and the government by engaging directly with communities and ensuring public needs are tackled promptly.

He also encouraged strengthening relations with international parliamentary bodies, including ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly. The Speaker later met with the Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker, Deputy Speaker, committee chairs, and secretary at the Pearl Hall.

During the meeting, Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Htay Aung reported on the current legislative activities and provided necessary updates. After the meeting, the Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker inspected the Yangon Region Hluttaw meeting hall.
