









The 70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council successfully concluded on Saturday.
The last day of the celebration on Saturday was attended by Sayadaws and members of the Sangha led by the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman Sayadaw, Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Tin Oo Lwin, officials, and invited guests.
Chaired by the Shwe Taung Pali University Nayaka Sayadaw, Abidhamma Pitaka Sangayana question and ansewer session was conducted. It was followed by Ovada Katha, delivered by the Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examiniation Ovadacriya Committee Chairman Sayadaw.
Next, Rector of International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University Dr. Bhaddanta Hsekinda reviewed the 5 papers read out on 1st May. Afterwards, the Union Minister and officials donated offertories to the venerable sayadaws and members of Sangha.
Then, the Union Minister delivered words of gratitude on successful celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Sixth Buddhist Council. The State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Secretary Sayadaw delivered a declaration on the successful celebration of 70th Anniversary of the Sixth Buddhist Council.
Later, State Ovadacariya, Sitagu Sayadaw Dr. Bhaddanta Ñanissara delivered Ovadas on victory of the 70th Anniversary Celebration. Subsequently, the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Chairman Sayadaw delivered Ovada Katha on successufl conclusion of the 70th Anniversary Celebration.
It is learnt that the first Buddhist Council was convened in the 1st year of the Buddhist Era, the second in the 100 Buddhist Era, the third in the 235 Buddhist Era, the fourth in the 450 Buddhist Era, the fifth in the 2415 Buddhist Era, and the sixth in the 2498 Buddhist Era.
The70th Anniversary Celebration of the Sixth Buddhist Council was successfully held from 30th April to 2nd May in a grand manner with the constructive participation of State Prominent Sayadaws and eminent members of Sangha from 14 international countries.
