The Middle East conflicts had sent fuel costs soaring and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz had pushed up the demand of electric vehicles (EVs) in Denmark. According to the latest data from the Mobility Denmark, 95 percent of privately purchased new cars were EVs in the first quarter of 2026.

In addition to external impact, the fast growth in Denmark’s EV market was also closely related to the country’s tax and policy orientation. For a long time, measures had been taken to levy a heavy tax on fuel vehicles and push forward the formation of “zero-emission” zones, with fuel vehicles being banned in certain areas.
