Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez opened the first Global Progressive Mobilisation Summit, bringing together leaders from Brazil, Mexico and South Africa. The meeting focused on challenges facing democracy, including rising inequality, disinformation, and pressure on international law and multilateral systems.

The summit discussed the need for coordinated global governance of the digital space, highlighting the borderless nature of the internet and the importance of common rules. Spain proposed allocating 10 percent of global military spending to a United Nations-led programme aimed at large-scale reforestation efforts worldwide. Mexico was invited to host the next summit.
