Paris suspends 78 school staff, 31 over suspected sexual violence

City authorities in Paris have suspended 78 activity leaders from schools and after-school facilities since the beginning of 2026, including 31 over suspicions of sexual violence, the new mayor of the French capital, Emmanuel Grégoire announced during his after-school action plan presentation to the press.

He confirmed that he wants the establishment of an independent commission that can carry out a full examination of recruitment procedures, reporting procedures, and monitoring procedures.  He stated that the system would be granted full access to everything, and that its freedom of speech would be absolute available to the parents of pupils.
