Guterres press encounter on the Middle East

UN Secretary-General António Guterres said the way out of the war in the Middle East is diplomacy, full respect of international law and peace.

Guterres spoke to reporter in New York, warning more than three week in, the war in the Middle East is “out of control.” He reiterated, “It is time to stop climbing the escalation ladder – and start climbing the diplomatic ladder, and return to full respect of international law.” The UN chief noted that he has remained in close contact with many from the region and around the world. A number of initiatives for dialogue and peace are underway. “They must succeed,” Guterres emphasized.
