Amazonian communities and scientists release 1,500 turtles in Brazil's Rio Negro

Riverine communities and scientists released around 1.500 Amazonian turtles at Jau National Park, on the Rio Negro in the Amazon rainforest, Amazonas state, Brazil, as part of a program to assist the reproduction of the species. Around 1,500 baby turtles were released into the river.  Most were Yellow‑spotted Amazon river turtle, a species native to the Amazon basin.
