The Israeli military said it launched a wave of strikes on Beirut claiming to target the militant group Hezbollah early Saturday. A military spokesman earlier issued a warning to residents of Beirut's southern suburbs which is a Hezbollah stronghold, to evacuate ahead of strikes.

Lebanon's official National News Agency reported strikes on two neighborhoods in the area, giving no clear number of casualties. Lebanon was pulled into the Middle East conflicts when Hezbollah began firing rockets into Israel on March 2nd due to the death of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
