Keir Starmer said the United Kingdom is working with international partners on a plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing Middle East war, stressing that the initiative will not involve NATO. Speaking to reporters in London, Starmer said the plan is being developed with allies in Europe, the Gulf region and the United States to ensure the safe passage of shipping through the vital oil transport route.

Keir Starmer, British Prime Minister said "We are working with others to come up with a credible plan for the Strait of Hormuz to ensure that we can reopen shipping and passage through the Strait. Let me be clear, that won't be, and it's never been envisioned to be a NATO mission.

His remarks came after Donald Trump warned that NATO could face a “very bad” future if US allies fail to help reopen the strategic waterway.
