Six young people are killed in an armed attack in Ecuador

Ecuadorian police reported on Friday that six young people were killed after gunmen opened fire at a house where they were celebrating their graduation. The armed attack occurred on Thursday afternoon in the southwestern province of Guayas. Police chief said that they were still conducting investigation related to the shootout.

The massacre occurred on the eve of a new offensive by authorities against organized crime and a nighttime curfew in the provinces of Guayas, Los Ríos,Santo Domingo and El Oro, as announced by the government. Ecuador broke its homicide record in 2025, with more than 9,200 cases.
