Rescuers search for missing after storm deluge kills 30 in Brazil

Rescuers are still searching for missing body swept away in a landslide in southeastern Brazil, where 30 people died and 39 were still missing on Tuesday after torrential rains.

State firefighters and sniffer dogs were working to find the 39 people still missing in the debris. State authorities declared a state of emergency and suspended classes in all municipal schools. President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva wrote on social media X that main focuses are to guarantee humanitarian assistance, the restoration of basic services, and aid to displaced people and support for reconstruction.
