Heavy rains leave 20 dead and several missing in Brazil

Severe rains hit the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil starting late on Monday, continuing into Tuesday.

The storm brought record rainfall, with Juiz de Fora recording its wettest February on record. At least 22 people have been confirmed dead as a result of flooding and landslides triggered by the intense rainfall. More than 3,000 people are now homeless, with many others displaced or in temporary shelters after homes were destroyed or inundated. Local authorities report dozens of people still missing, with ongoing search-and-rescue efforts.
