US Energy Secretary Chris Wright on Thursday, renewed his threat to pull out of the International Energy Agency (IEA), warning that US would push over the next year for the organization to abandon the net-zero agenda. Wright complained that agency should return to its founding mission of ensuring energy security and access.

Chris Wright, US Energy Secretary said  “Ten years invested in an illusion, but a destructive illusion of Net Zero 2050 that the US will use all the pressure we have to get the IEA to eventually, in the next year or so, move away from this agenda."

The net-zero emissions target is crucial to meet the Paris climate agreement's goal of limiting global warming to 1.5C from pre-industrial levels. But Wright denied it.
