Mexico declines membership in Trump’s “Board of Peace”

The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, reported that Mexico will not join as a member of the Peace Board promoted by United States President Donald Trump.

However, the President assured that Mexico’s participation as an observer member is being considered. The President in her statement said “They have already sent the communiqué. In it, they state that they recognize the pursuit of peace in any space that opens up.

In this specific case, regarding peace in the Middle East and Palestine—given that they recognize Palestine as a State—it is important for both states to participate, both Israel and Palestine, and that is not how this meeting is structured. The proposal is for them to attend as observers; therefore, the UN Ambassador will likely attend in an observer capacity.
