Fico Rubio on defense UA

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in Bratislava, Slovakia on Sunday afternoon, where Prime Minister Fico said the two sides agreed to act as allies where their interests align and to negotiate solutions where their views differ.

Energy cooperation was a key topic where Fico emphasized Slovakia’s interest in collaborating with the US on nuclear energy and proposed establishing a multinational consortium led by a US partner to facilitate the construction of a new nuclear unit by 2040. He called for early US involvement in the project, which he said would be important for both Slovakia and the European Union.
