US President Donald Trump announced a major policy shift for the country on Thursday, that revokes regulations on greenhouse gas emissions, including from automobiles.

The head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Lee Zeldin called the move the "single largest deregulatory action in US history", saying EPA will be eliminating this scientific finding, which was introduced in 2009 during former President Barack Obama's administration.

It said greenhouse gases threaten public health and welfare. They also said rolling back vehicle emissions standards will allow consumers to purchase cheaper cars. The Trump administration claimed that the step could save taxpayers more than 1.3 trillion dollars.
