Pin collecting fuels Olympic spirit at the Winter Games

Just a few hundred meters from Milan’s cathedral, 250 free pins are being distributed at noon, drawing several hundred people. Pin collecting, which originated in the United States, has become an unofficial sport of the Olympic Games. In the streets in the Olympic village, and at the official pin trading center, these small metal pieces spark encounters and fuel the desires of collectors searching for the rare gem.
