












Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge in Yangon Region commissioned into service on Friday. Acting President, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the opening ceremony, which commenced with the explanation of the bridge construction by Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant.
This was followed by screening of a documentary video on construction of Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge, and handover of the related documents. Then, a commemorative gift was presented to the Acting President who later made a speech.
The Acting President highlighted the benefits of the newly opened bridge for smooth transportation across the cities between Ayeyawady and Yangon Regions, with Dala town serves as a key area for commodity flow. He urged locals to abide by the traffic rules, ensuring the long term durability of the bridge.
He also thanks the concerned personnel who involved in the construction of the bridge, and presented honorary gifts to the engineer teams. Then, the bridge was formally opened by the officials led by Prime Minister U Nyo Saw, followed by unveiling of the inscriptions, commemorating the opening of the bridge, by the Acting President and officials.
The Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge connects downtown Yangon and Dala on the other side. It is a four-lane bridge with the length of 6,127 ft. It's unique design aims to become a landmark of Yangon City, standing the highest Cable Stayed Bridge that allows the passage of cruise vessels.
The negotiations for construction of the bridge have been initiated in 2012 during the visit of the then President U Thein Sein to the Republic of Korea.
The bridge construction was then approved on June 2013, following the meeting between the two officials. With over 157million US dollar, funded by the Economic Development Cooperation Fund of Korea and over 30 million US dollar allotted budget by the government, the bridge construction started in May 2019. Additional budget of more than 23 billion kyat was allotted for completion of the bridge.
