Israel said the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt "has reopened for movement of people only." It added that the movement of residents in both directions is expected to begin on Monday. Israel made the announcement on Sunday. The crossing had been closed due to the country's military operations.

Major Israeli newspaper quotes an Israeli security official as saying that between 150 and 200 entries and exits are expected at the crossing every day. Health authorities in Gaza say about 20,000 people in the enclave need to receive treatment outside the territory because of shortages of medical equipment and medicine.
