US President Donald Trump directed ICE, Border Patrol, and federal forces to protect federal property during protests and riots, emphasizing local governments must first request assistance. 

Trump issued a statement on Truth Social addressing protests and riots in U.S. cities. He directed Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem that federal forces, including ICE and Border Patrol, will protect federal buildings under attack. Trump emphasized that federal assistance will only occur when local governments formally request help.
