A ceremony was held in Yangon on Friday to honour Myanmar’s U-17 men’s and women’s national football teams for their successful performance in the 2025 AFC U-17 Asian qualifiers, which were hosted by Myanmar.

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotels and Tourism Jeng Phang Naw Taung attended the ceremony and made a speech, praising the players’ discipline, determination, and teamwork. He noted that Myanmar qualified again after nearly 20 years since 2006, and encouraged the teams to continue striving for success in the final stage of the AFC U-17 Championship, aiming to qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Cash awards were then presented, including 100 million kyat awarded by the Acting President, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, along with additional donations from the Yangon Region Government and donors. In total, the women’s team received 350 million kyat and the men’s team 550 million kyat in honorary awards.
