Chile's president-elect Jose Antonio Kast meets with El Salvador's Bukele

Chile's president-elect, José Antonio Kast, visited his counterpart Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele at the presidential palace in San Salvador after Kast toured El Salvador's mega-prison CECOT. During the meeting, Kast asked President Bukele for "collaboration" to improve security in Chilean prisons and said “he wanted to ask for Bukele’s collaboration on improving prison system.

Bukele replied that, "differences aside" between the two countries, what El Salvador can do is "contribute its experience." They then discussed bilateral issues about security and economic affairs.
