New Yorkers revel in snowball fight amid major winter storm

New Yorkers take part in a snowball fight in Brooklyn's McCarren Park, as a major winter storm sweeps through vast expanses of the United States.

The snowball fight is part of Winter Storm Fern, a powerful winter system bringing heavy snow, ice, and dangerously cold temperatures across much of the U.S. Northeast.  Forecasts indicate record snowfall amounts in some areas, prompting local authorities to issue travel advisories and warnings about hazardous conditions.
