Second victim evacuated as SAR operation for ATR 42-500 crash

The Search and Rescue (SAR) operation following the crash of an ATR 42-500 aircraft on the Yogyakarta–Makassar route, which was reported to have lost contact in the Maros–Pangkep area of South Sulawesi, Island in Indonesia is still ongoing as of Tuesday.

SAR Mission Coordinator said “On Tuesday afternoon, the joint SAR team focused on continuing the search and evacuation across several sectors by dividing forces into six Search and Rescue Units (SRUs), including ground SRUs and vertical rescue teams. Ultimately, the second victim, a female, was successfully evacuated from a depth of approximately 350 meters under extremely challenging terrain conditions”.
