






The 7th coordination meeting of the Central Committee on Security Supervision during the Multi-Party Democracy General Election was held at the "Arindama" Hall of the Myanmar Police Force Headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw on January 20.
Central Committee Chairman Union Minister for Home Affairs Lieutenant General Tun Tun Naung attended the meeting and delivered the opening address. In his opening remarks, the Union Minister stated that Phases (1) and (2) of the Multi-Party Democracy General Election were successfully held on the dates announced by the Union Election Commission.
He noted that the voter turnout among eligible voters at polling stations was 52.13% in Phase (1) and 55.95% in Phase (2) of the election. Despite disruptive and destructive terrorist acts by terrorists attempting to hinder the Multi-Party Democracy General Election, it was observed that voters actively and orderly cast their votes in accordance with their free will.
He emphasized the need to enhance security measures, effectively prevent crimes, and enforce the rule of law in various regions. He also mentioned that actions have been taken to identify and prosecute those attempting to disrupt the election process through various means.
As of January 19, 2026, a total of 404 individuals including 324 men and 80 women have been prosecuted under the "Law Protecting against Disruption, Hindrance, and Destruction of Multi-Party Democracy General Elections" in 331 cases across the Union Territory and various regions/states.
He further stressed the need to continuously investigate and take action against those engaging in incitement and propaganda that could affect election security. Following this, the Chairmen and secretaries of the Security Supervision Committees in regions/states included in Phase (3) of the election presented and discussed the security arrangements in place for Phase (3) of the election in their respective regions/states.
They also discussed security measures for the safety of elected parliament representatives and the convening of the respective parliaments after the election. Members of the Central Committee, Vice-Chairmen, and representatives of the Union Election Commission provided additional suggestions and recommendations. Subsequently, the Chairman of Central Committee Union Minister, supplemented the discussions with necessary instructions and concluded the meeting, it’s reported.
