Train service in central Tokyo resumes after 8-hour stoppage

Train operations have resumed in central Tokyo after stopping for about eight hours due to a power outage. Service on the JR Yamanote loop line and Keihin-Tohoku line was suspended from the first run on Friday morning.

East Japan Railway Company said the power outage occurred when a device to prevent electric shock malfunctioned. The railway says upgrade work will not be carried out at Tamachi Station on Saturday and Sunday when standardized university entrance exams are scheduled across Japan.
