Japan, ASEAN to work together on development of trustworthy AI

Japan’s Internal Affairs and Communications Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa joined delegates from the 11 ASEAN member nations at a meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Thursday. Ministerial-level officials in the digital sector from Japan and the ASEAN had confirmed cooperation on human resources development and other fields to create and introduce trustworthy artificial intelligence.

The participants drew up a joint statement that seeks cooperation to develop AI models that reflect cultures, languages and other aspects of those countries. It also calls for collaboration to nurture young developers.
