Japan FM calls for steady progress in Palestinian Authority reform

Japanese Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu met with Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa in the West Bank on Sunday. Motegi showed Japan’s support for a future Palestinian state, while calling for steady progress in the reform of the Palestinian Authority. Motegi visited Ramallah, Palestine in the West Bank for talks with Mustafa from the authority.

Motegi explained Japan’s position supporting a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, whereby Israel and a future independent Palestinian state live by side by side in peace and security. He also said Japan will continue to support the reconstruction in the Gaza Strip and the building of the Palestinian state.
