Security Measures: Tatmadaw regained control of Nwetamae Village

The Tatmadaw carried out counter-terrorism operations after PDF terrorists occupied pagodas, monasteries, and homes in Nwetamae village in Sinphyukyun town of Salin Township in Magway Region.

According to reports, the terrorists used religious buildings, schools, clinics, and civilian houses to build bunkers, dig trenches, and plant homemade mines, causing fear among local residents. The Tatmadaw said it conducted clearance operations to restore security and rule of law.

On January 10, security forces regained full control of Nwetamae Village. During follow-up clearance operations on January 11, they reportedly seized weapons and equipment, including grenades, homemade mines, ammunition, protective gear, uniforms, and communication devices.

Authorities also found that bunkers and defensive positions had been built inside pagodas, monasteries, school compounds, and residential areas, with bridges damaged and mines planted along village roads.

Security forces are continuing mine-clearing operations to ensure the safety of local residents. The report stated that local people have expressed support for efforts to restore peace and stability, and that security forces will continue working with the public to improve safety and community life in the area.
